Snoring is most often caused by loose or weak muscle tissue at the back of the mouth, which relaxes during sleep and causes the airway to collapse.
The Dental Appliance used to treat snoring is made to fit over the upper teeth and is worn only at night. The device is designed to advance the lower jaw, which, in turn, opens the upper airway and allows the patient to breathe more easily.
Most of the complaints heard by people who wear these devices are the discomfort it causes which keeps them awake. We have found that by using the same material that we use for our Thermo Guard nightguards the discomfort is relieved and the patient has no problem sleeping.
